POP STAR MELANIE THORNTON KILLED IN PLANE CRASH South Carolina-born singer Melanie Thornton was among 24 people killed Saturday night in a plane crash near Zurich, Switzerland. Thornton was on tour, publicizing her album "Ready to Fly" and her newest single, "Wonderful Dream," due for release Monday. Among her hits as lead singer for the group La Bouche were "Sweet Dreams," "Fallin' In Love" and "Be My Lover."
