France is officially opposed to the use of death penalty, and has stated that it would object if such a resolution is sought in the case of Mr. Zacarias Moussaoui. The case could determine relations concerning extradition of suspected criminals from Europe, with many nations in the European Union also denouncing capital punishment as "barbaric."
