"Enjoy visiting artists studios and roaming the gallery rooms." Over 11 years ago, the site launched as a result of a barter between Lile, an artist, and a friend who was interested in one of her oil paintings. She got a free internet connection for a year out of the deal and soon launched art.net. Today, it houses the works of over 400 artists, presenting their works in a non-commercial setting (see the Manifesto). The design is somewhat old fashioned but the site's navigation is pretty good – more important, the content is remarkable (and vast). Here's a fun starting point...    (RSS Feed)
