"We need to start thinking and talking about visualization, not just look at pictures," says Robert Kosara, an Assistant Professor at UNCC. He's a researcher in the field of Information Visualization (InfoVis) who says "there is a blatant lack of reflection in the field." "What would happen if you were to connect all the ZIP codes in the US in ascending order?" Is is possible to make a visual map of poetry? Maybe not, but as Kosara notes, it at least makes us reflect on what we mean by visualization, an apparently evolving discipline...
