Today's Pick
"We need to start thinking and talking about visualization, not just look at pictures," says Robert Kosara, an Assistant Professor at UNCC. He's a researcher in the field of Information Visualization (InfoVis) who says "there is a blatant lack of reflection in the field." Today's pick is a weblog of sorts, targeted towards students (and potential students) of Vis, containing some interesting food for thought. "What would happen if you were to connect all the ZIP codes in the US in ascending order?" Is is possible to make a visual map of poetry? Maybe not, but as Kosara notes, it at least makes us reflect on what we mean by visualization, an apparently evolving discipline...
