The deadline for submissions for the "Filter" issue has just passed and the word is "the quality of submissions has been great." It's the second issue of this online mag and scheduled to be released early next month. I downloaded the first issue – 36 pages of cool visuals from 35 different contributors. It tells me that the next issue is certainly something to look forward to...;~)) (RSS

"This project aims to show how by combining different types of information in a communication channel, which is in a physical environment, we can enrich the audience's experience, enhancing their understanding and awareness." David completed the project just a few months ago as his final project related to earning his MA in Creative Technology, "based on the aesthetics" of various movements in contemporary art history. In each of its 8 sections, David examines the particular art movement, providing background information and rich multimedia content. In Futurism, for example, he talks about its manifesto and shares a collection of exemplary photos against an ambient soundtrack based on actual recorded sounds of a metal assembly line. He comes to the conclusion that "there is not an inner beauty in the noise and functioning of potentially dangerous machines." Like yesterday's pick, the site provides hundreds of links to well-designed websites (along with tastefully-done screenshots). Registered users may rate and comment on sites listed in the categorized directory. There's also interviews – 6 designers have been interviewed this month so far. Kudos to Luddep and Niclas for building a beautiful site leading to so many other beautiful sites...;~))  [Asterisco < upwardlink] (RSS

Patrice Ricord's father "carved sculptures in wood" and his mother was a teacher in the arts. And his grandfather worked with Renoir. An artistic family. At only 14, Patrice's caricatures of teachers impressed a magazine publisher, who encouraged Ricord to finish his studies and "then come back and see us." According to the Biographie, when Ricord did just that and got hired by the magazine, he created a series "whose graphic style was to revolutionise the art of Caricature." The content you'll find at today's pick is Patrice Ricord's 25th album of works. It's an online book of caricatures, portraits, and other drawings, plus some very tasty wallpapers and ecards – qualité totale...   [4efx] (XML
