  • Fighting With Light 6/30/06
Description: a small photoblog by Sal
Comments: "I started this blog to learn about photography..." I'd say if Sal is indeed fighting with light, she's winning the battle. This shot is amazing, thank you. And what a great building! Her collection of photos is inspiring, as is one of her favorites from other shooters...

  • Fontastica 6/29/06
Description: feulers of pixel fonts and patterns for the design community
Comments: Just launched in April, the site offers to help you "get the pixel knit o'mania" with font sets of pixel patterns plus a "free pixel font collection" for designers, which includes a unique type tester feature. Simply fontastic!  [Uailab]

  • snaps 6/28/06
    Description: photoblog from Stoke-on-Trent, England
Comments: Cat's got a digital SLR camera named Boris and a groovy Lomo among others. Her most current image, taken with the digital, and this one, taken with the Lomo, both show she sure knows how to use 'em...;~))

  • Miki Alcalde 6/27/06
Description: works by a traveling photographer
Comments: After earning an MBA, Miki soon pursued a new direction after discovering photography while traveling. Since then, he's traveled throughout the world, with his camera, of course. The India project is an excellent documentary in my opinion. And his Solitudes and Portraits are wonderful too.

  • oh, don't forget... 6/26/06
Description: simple web application for scheduling text messages
Comments: From stirman (remember to pull my finger), it started with a "wish there was a web app that let me schedule text messages to myself, or to other people." So Jason made it and it's downright useful if you forget stuff too. It's "one half web application, and one half magic voodoo potion," so do read the faq...

  • Maudi 6/22/06
Description: paintings and drawings by Maurizio Di Martino (Flash)
Comments: Maurizio's showcased paintings, mostly oil on burlap, and drawings date back to 1997. Enjoy his collection of beautiful works (and the visually appealing site design).

  • Bananas! 6/21/06
Description: a photoblog of people, awesome places, and all kinds of things
Comments: "I'm not Crazy, I'm just not You." Carmen's going bananas with unique vision and thought. "Only when the last tree has died and the last river been poisoned and the last fish been caught will we realize we cannot eat money." And this made me go bananas too, thank you...;~))  [Pulpo]

  • Ultimate Flash Face 6/19/06
Description: create a face or view others' creations (Flash)
Comments: If I'm not mistaken, this is the same Flash toy I saw a few years back at a domain no longer online. Apparently, Artem Melnikov, the owner of the domain it now resides on, has been kind enough to provide hosting for Max Ishchenko's Flash Face, which lets users create their own faces using a palette of facial objects. There's literally thousands of faces saved by users, which you can load and view. In fact, since I played with it early this morning, over 48 users have saved new faces to the database. The impressive interface gives the user quite a bit of control over the objects including scaling, opacity, and alignment. What fun!  [Zupi]

  • robert padilla photography 6/18/06
    Description: portraits and landscapes (Flash)
Comments: Just 35 photos and I'm left speechless. Portraits and landscapes by Robert Padilla, perhaps the best you will have seen lately (in my opinion anyway).

  • Lomolover 6/16/06
Description: having fun with lomographics (Flash)
Comments: "Lomography is the most interactive, vivid, blurred and crazy face of photography worldwide," says Florian, whose own photos are featured on the site along with photos submitted by other lomographers. "Casual, snapshot photography." Very cool and the Lomolovers are everywhere...;~))

  • Pinholeman.net 6/15/06
    Description: photography by Mark Dungan
Comments: "I suffer from Wanderlust. As a result, I explore the back roads of America looking for relics of a bygone era and other assorted oddities." From pictures taken with pinholes and plastic cameras and lenses "from the early days" to manipulated Polaroids, Mark's photos are captivating. And his photo-documentation of "the war between shop owners and taggers," or what he calls anti-graffiti, exposes real art where some may have never realized it existed...  [Scrumptious Pink]

  • Jamey Howard Dot Com 6/14/06
Description: a place to post random pictures of things that interest me
Comments: The most current is an amazing long exposure shot, as are many of Jamey's random photos. He created the photoblog for his random pics, whereas more themed sets can be found in his gallery. In either case, there's some truly great images here. And if you want to vary the color scheme a bit, just use the nifty colourway found on his homepage...;~))  [VFXY]

  • fladdict.net 6/13/06
    Description: experiments in Flash
Comments: Each worm painting you generate will be a uniquely organic piece of art. Or just sit back and watch it get more and more elaborate on its own. This amazing work is one of 4 interactive Flash experiments from a self-proclaimed fladdict. All very cool!  [iBLOG]

  • Comicsand 6/12/06
Description: personal gallery of comics/anime computer graphics
Comments: Alex, who's about to graduate with a degree in advertising, does colorful comic characters with a real anime style and in several cases, shares his process. Besides 18 works in the gallery, there a dozen more images in his draft section. Good stuff (and a clean site design too)...

  • Sprout Public Art 6/10/06
Description: enhancing the visual landscape of neighborhoods in Pittsburgh
Comments: "The program encourages dialogue on public art between the community and the artist, contributes to community and neighborhood development and raises awareness about the important role that local artists can have in shaping communities." In its first 3 years, the collaboration between communities and artists facilitated by the non-profit organization behind the initiative has resulted in 23 "enduring works of public art" in the form of amazing wall murals, all showcased on the site. Enjoy the unique color of Pittsburgh!  [swikiri]

  • believe the hype 6/9/06
Description: lomos and words from 'bad hair boy'
Comments: "Some more years down the line he roams the streets of his beloved city, disguised as a historian, armed with a camera, looking out for eye candy." At about that same time, a bad hair cut earned him his nickname and his friends knew that bad hair boy loved to capture moments with his Lomo. On the other side of the page, he loves to write. Into games, urban things, nightlife, and computers, his thoughts in the blog on the right are every bit as interesting as his tasty pictures on the left. Believe the hype...  [MizzFonky]

  • phoric.org 6/8/06
    Description: experiments in imagery
Comments: "My goal is to regularly learn and experiment with photography, and this site serves as an outlet and a means to achieve that goal." Launched just a few months ago, Phoric's photoblog features much larger shots than most and yes, they're certainly more vivid at 960px wide (view the site at a resolution higher than 1024x768 if you can). I love Phoric's most recent shot and there's more beauties in the archives...

  • 1mag3 6/7/06
    Description: a photography weblog
Comments: If you're into photography, Philip's photography weblog (not to be confused with photoblog) provides well written personal commentary on contemporary photographers and the subject in general, with occasional posts featuring his own images. There's also a wealth of related links on the sidebar – I'll have to check out some of the topdogs soon. And if you want to take in more of Philip's own outstanding works, here's today's bonus...;~))

  • Michelle K 6/6/06
    Description: personal photo gallery
Comments: Nothing remarkable about the design – it's powered by the open source Gallery and it's quite easy to navigate Michelle's many photo albums. Like her selfportraits – emotional and open. Or her wonderful pinhole photos and amazing collages. How totally creative!

  • Let's Take Pictures 6/3/06
Description: photos from various destinations (Flash)
Comments: Once you get familiar with the cool Flash interface, be prepared for some large, amazing photos of the streets of Paris, beautiful Brazilian landscapes, and other shots taken in London and Rome. Great presentation and it scales with the browser window. "You want to put your pictures here?" Then go on and contact them...;~))  [DOPE]

  • MizzFonky 6/2/06
Description: lomography, graphic design and music
Comments: An office administrator by day, MizzFonky's into lomography, design, and music and her personal site is a delightful creative space. Enjoy her Lomos (from a number of different cameras) and Photoshop art and download several huge House/Deep House mixes (.mp3 - zipped) or MizzFonky wallpaper. Oh yeah, and her favorite color black makes a perfect backdrop for the tasty site design...
